July 15

7/15 - Vienna

We took a midnight train from Prague to Vienna.  Thankfully we had reservations because the train was crazy!  We had to push our way into our cabin only to discover two girls in our seats who we had to ask to leave.   The hallway outside of our cabin was filled with young Spanish girls who sang Cumpleanos Feliz (Happy Birthday) about six times.

When the train arrived in Vienna we were exhausted.  Alas we had to find our hostel.  After a bus ride, and 45 minutes of walking in circles, and Maryanne laying down on a park bench, we found the hostel!

However, they had lost our reservation.  It took a few minutes for them to rebook us.  Once that had been fixed we dropped our bags in the room and caught some free breakfast.  At breakfast, we also helped ourselves to lunch, which you really aren't supposed to do.  After being fed and hydrated we slept, and slept, and slept! Until 3 p.m.  At which point we ate our sandwiches, washed our underwear, and then headed out into Vienna.  The city seemed nice enough so we milled about.  And actually stopped in for part of a Mass at St. Stephen's Cathedral.

We then walked and found one of the Hapsburg's castles, and a lovely statue of Mozart.  After this long day, we jumped back on the trolly and back to the hostel.
