Now we traveling to Prague on the train. Seeing the countryside of Germany has been lovely -- lots of open space and even fields of sunflowers. I'm glad we've been taking trains because otherwise we wouldn't be seeing this. The Czech Republic is full of hills on which cities are built, old castles, a beautiful river that we've been riding parallel to, and just a beautiful landscape overall!
We had an excellent day in Prague. We arrived a little after 1 p.m. and checked our big backpacks for 5 euro and got to see the city with just our day bags. We ate lunch (bread, cheese, tomatoes, peaches) in front of the train station. Although it was a little sketchy, it was great to sit outside in the sun.
After lunch we walked into Old Town where the beauty of Prague hit us. The buildings look as though they are out of a fairy tale. We got to watch the changing of the astronomical clock, and then we walked over the St. Charles Bridge, which was amazing. Prague is gorgeous! To the left of the bridge is an island where we strolled and rested in the sun. Then we walked in search of dinner. We found a cute local place where we split a meal of roasted pork, dumplings, sourcraut, and a dessert crepe.
After all this we strolled back over the bridge, and just took in all the beauty! Now we are waiting for a 12:05 a.m. train to Vienna.
P.S. Karen bought a shot glass for her cousin's husband, and Maryanne bought a water color (framed) painting of Prague!
